A number of new condo developments are underway in Boston. Here is a look at a couple.
New Seaport Condos to Start at $700,000
New condos currently under development within the Seaport District are expected to have price tags ranging from $700,000 to more than $5 million. Under development by Cottonwood Management, the property would offer units ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, with some being marketed as pieds-a-terre.
Spread out over three buildings, the project will offer 1.33 million square feet of space on 3.5 acres of land situated at B Street and Seaport Boulevard. Once complete, the project will boast 717 apartments and condos, with its 447 condos being the largest single amount of housing for sale within the Seaport District. The third tower will consist solely of apartments.
Officially breaking ground in June of last year, the project is expected to be completed in late 2019. The project, known as EchelonSeaport, will offer 50,000 square feet of in-house amenities. Some of these amenities will include a fitness center, two outdoor pools, two sky lounges and a 19,000 square foot landscaped plaza that will be accessible to the public. The property will also offer 125,000 square feet of restaurants and retail space spread out over two levels. The development will also have two garages with enough parking available for each condo to have one space.
East Boston Complex to Bring Two-Bedroom Condos to the Area
A condo complex in East Boston near Logan will bring new condos to the area. Offering a total of 37 units within a five-story building at 287 Maverick Street, the project will boast 25 two-bedroom units, ten one-bedroom units and two studios. The project will also feature five income-restricted units.
While construction has yet to begin on the project, it has received all of the necessary clearances from the city to move forward. Once complete, the development will also include 2,180 square feet of retail space for a ground-floor café or restaurant. It will also offer 30 off-street parking spaces along with 38 on-site bike spots.
Modular Housing Development Coming to Charlestown will become the city’s largest modular housing development once it is complete. Of the two buildings included in the project, one will be a four-story building constructed entirely from modular boxes. With each box weighing 30,000 to 35,000 pounds and measuring 60 to 65 feet, it takes approximately 20 minutes to lift each box into position. As such, workers are capable of arranging around 14 of the boxes per day.
In May, the first 129 modular boxes were brought to the site where the new development is being constructed. Once complete, the project will offer 125 apartments rising above 97 parking spaces. The other building will offer 46 apartments for a total of 171 loft-like apartments. The redevelopment of the former Graphic Arts Finishers Building will also feature 113 parking spots along with 4,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Some of the development’s amenities will include a game room, a club room, a fitness center with yoga facilities, a roof deck, a private courtyard and bike storage.
