The Boston Flower and Garden Show Returns for 2016



The Boston Flower and Garden Show is returning once again to the city in 2016. For gardening aficionados, this is truly an exciting event as it brings together many experts while also showcasing some of the latest flower varieties and garden developments. Of course, looking at the gorgeous floral displays also brings hope that the cold winter will soon be a thing of the past as beautiful flowers begin to emerge from the ground throughout the city.

About the Boston Flower and Garden Show

With a theme of “Nurtured by Nature,” the Boston Flower & Garden Show will feature well-designed landscapes displaying connections with nature and with each other. Houseplants, containers and floral arrangements will also be on display, while homegrown foods will be celebrated. At the event, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to maintain a beautiful flower garden or grow tasty homegrown vegetables with great success.

In addition to flower displays, the show will have displays of horticulture tools and products, ornaments, garden furniture and handmade crafts. A variety of lectures will also be made available to participants, with some of the titles planned for this year’s event being:

  • Lavender in the Kitchen
  • Avoiding Lyme Disease
  • Foodscaping
  • Urban Beekeeping
  • The Indestructable House Plant
  • The Growing and Harvesting of Tea
  • Succulent Terrariums
  • Pruning 101
  • Raised Bed Herb Garden
  • Extending the Vegetable Garden Growing Season
  • Rose Gardening Season by Season

Musical performances will also be provided at various times throughout the event, while the Little Sprouts Activity Center will help teach children more about gardening. Event participants will also have the opportunity to be entered to win door prizes or to ask experts for advice.

About the Seaport World Trade Center

The Boston Flower & Garden Show will take place at the Seaport World Trade Center, which is located in the South Boston Waterfront District at 200 Seaport Boulevard. Seaport is known for its groundbreaking environmental program, known as Seaport Saves. The program is dedicated to conservation and sustainability throughout all aspects of the organization. As such, the company provides eco-friendly transportation, utilizes green cleaning practices and hires eco-conscious employees.

For out-of-towners who wish to stay the whole weekend for the event, the Seaport Hotel is located right across the street from the World Trade Center. The hotel also utilizes eco-conscious practices and offers environmentally-friendly guest rooms. The Westin Boston Waterfront is also located just two blocks away and next to the Boston Expo and Convention Center.

Tickets and Times

The Boston Flower & Garden Show will take place March 16th through the 20th.  Doors will be open from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm on March 16th and 17th, from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm on March 18th and 19th and from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm on March 20th. Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors (age 65 and over), $10 for children between the ages of 6 and 17. Children 5 and younger are admitted for free. Tickets may be purchased online in advance.
