The 8th Annual Boston GreenFest, which is recognized as the largest multicultural environmental music festival in the region, will take place August 21st through the 23rd. In addition to providing free entertainment, the event strives to provide visitors with ways to live a green lifestyle.
Impacting the World with Green Living
During the three-day GreenFest, organizers hope to provide participants with valuable information about green living. In addition to helping you find ways to cut back on your energy costs, the festival hopes to provide information that will help you make a more positive impact on your neighborhood, the city and the word. This goal will be accomplished with the help of exhibits, presentations and performances focusing on sustainable living. Some of the themes that are to be explored at this year’s event include:

With more than 200 exhibitors, there will be plenty of opportunity to explore these themes more thoroughly.
Enjoying Eco-Friendly Events at the GreenFest
While the main goal of the Boston GreenFest is to educate others about green living opportunities, the event also hosts plenty of eco-friendly fun. Throughout the three-day event, you will find opportunities to enjoy free entertainment while sampling green-friendly food.
Starting at noon each day, the Flagpole Café, Local Food Emporium, Smooth Garden and Wine & Beer Garden will be open to the public. Here, you can enjoy delicious foods and beverages free from GMOs. The EcoRide and Drive on Cambridge Street event will also be available from noon until 6:00 pm each day. Taking place across from Starbuck’s Steaming Kettle, the event allows you to try out a hybrid or electric vehicle from Ford and Nissan. You also have the opportunity to earn a $5 meal coupon when you register in advance for this event.
If you are interested in making your home more eco-friendly, you will have the opportunity to explore a green-friendly home within the Main Exhibit Area. From noon until 6:00 pm each day, the Direct Energy EcoHouse will be available for tours. You can also enjoy a first-hand experience with eco-friendly city amenities when you ride the iPod Solar Personal Rapid Transit any time from noon to 6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. To participate in this event, head over to the area near the flagpoles.
To explore live entertainment during the three-day event, you can head over to any one of the available stages. Performances start at noon at the Metro Main Stage, EcoSoule Stage and Family Stage each day. Movie screenings will also start at noon in the Atrium. At the end of the day, you will also have the opportunity to join in more fun with a Dance Party taking place from 5:00 until 10:00 pm on the Main Stage on Friday. On Saturday, the event will close out with a Latina Dance Party taking place from 6:00 until 10:00 pm. You will even have the chance to learn how to dance the salsa and the merengue.
The 8th Annual Boston GreenFest will take place at City Hall Plaza. All activities are free.
