Kelwyn Manor is considered as one of the most distinctive neighborhoods in all of Arlington. It is locate on the land between Lake Street and Spy Pond in Arlington, MA. The development of the said neighborhood began in the year 1938. The Kelly Coal Company was responsible for building the first 194 homes on the 39 acre Wyman farm land. The name of the place, “Kelwyn”, is a combination of two names, “Kelly” and “Wyman”. Houses in the area were originally priced at around $6,000 to $8,000.
During the 2003 meeting, the Arlington Historical Commission notes that the unprecedented scale of the subdivision, and its uniform use of the period Colonial Revival Style in homes, have made Kelwyn Manor a unique emergence as a suburban community in the Arlington area.
