Next month, the massive Boston Flower and Garden Show will once again hit the city. As the biggest flower show in the city, the Boston Flower and Garden Show lasts for 5 days and features more than 25 unique garden displays created by the top design firms and nurseries in the region.
Each year the Boston Flower and Garden Show operates under a particular theme. This year, the theme will be “Season of Enchantment.” Scheduled to take place from March 11 through March 15, the show gives visitors the opportunity to do more than just see award-winning flower arrangements in person. The show also offers a variety of presentations and demonstrations throughout the event, providing visitors with the opportunity to learn more about landscaping, gardening and other related topics. Examples of typical demonstrations include floral arrangement demos and special displays demonstrating how to combine living space with outdoor seating through landscaping and the use of seasonal color.
With a variety of displays showcasing the work of New England garden designers, the show demonstrates how to create outdoor living spaces with a variety of different building materials. The use of sustainable products is a particularly integral part of the show, while others incorporate foliage, rocks and water in unique ways. A variety of different garden styles will also be on display including Japanese-style water gardens and Chinese Moon Gate gardens. Some even incorporate unexpected features, such as including a chicken coop or herb and vegetable beds. These displays provide visitors with ideas and inspiration for creating their own unique garden space.
A number of vendors offering decorative objects, building and landscaping materials, garden supplies, cut flowers, specialty plants and culinary items will also be at the show. A bookstore featuring garden design and care books will also be available, while children’s gardening activities will provide the youngsters with the opportunity to learn while having fun. Meanwhile, the show’s amateur competitions give visitors the opportunity to show off their skills.
The Boston Flower and Garden Show takes place from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm March 11th and 12th, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on March 13th and 14th and from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on March 16th. The event takes place at the Seaport World Trade Center, which is located on the Boston waterfront at 1 Seaport Lane on the Commonwealth Pier. The neighboring Seaport Boston Hotel originally opened in 1998 and contains hypoallergenic rooms.
