The Boston GreenFest will be returning to Boston this year, with this year’s event taking place August 21st through the 23rd. A celebration of sustainable living, the Boston GreenFest features a variety of exhibits, presentations and performances related to the EcoThemes of energy, water, transportation, green cities, nutrition and health.
Learning at the Boston GreenFest
With more than 200 exhibitors along with a number of speakers and workshops, there is a lot to be learned at the Boston GreenFest. Just a few of the exhibitors who will be at this year’s event include:

This year, the festival will also include a Showcase of Innovation where you can learn things such as how salt, vinegar and water can be more powerful than bleach. You can also experiment with apps that are designed to make your life easier while also living a more sustainable lifestyle. Other topics covered at this festival will include giving new purpose to household objects, growing a mini-farm in the kitchen and appreciating art and jewelry made from recycled materials. You will even have the opportunity to try out electric and hybrid models of vehicles with the EcoRide & Drive on Cambridge Street. Or, if bicycling is more your style, you can take a ride on a bike that generates electricity.
Enjoying Entertainment at the Boston GreenFest
In addition to providing ample opportunity to learn, the Boston GreenFest also offers a variety of entertainment options for patrons to enjoy. Considered the region’s largest multicultural environmental music festival, the event features more than 100 live performers. Representing more than 20 countries, the performances include live music and dance. Some of the performers planned for this year’s event include:

Together, these performers and others will provide an eclectic mix of bluegrass, jazz, folk, hip hop, rap, soul, reggae, R&B, zydeco, folkloric, classical, gospel and more. Other live shows planned for the event include an eco-fashion show featuring local designers with models showcasing upcycled fashion.
The event will also include a Green Film Fest, which will feature a lineup of films from around the world, as well as free fitness classes and a variety of food vendors offering tasty and healthy international cuisines. The event, which will also feature a beer and wine garden, will culminate with an eco-friendly fireworks and light show.
The Boston GreenFest takes place August 21, 22 and 23 from noon to 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and from noon to 6:00 pm on Sunday. The event takes place at the Boston City Hall Plaza in the Government Center. The event is free and all ages are welcome.
