Are you looking for something to do for Halloween in Boston this year? If so, here are a few events that will be taking place around the city in 2014.
Boston Halloween Pumpkin Festival
Taking place at the Boston Common’s Frog Pond on Sunday, October 29th from 4:30 to 6:30, the Halloween Pumpkin Festival will offer music, refreshments and activities for children. Participants are also invited to bring a hollowed out carved pumpkin that is no more than 8 inches in diameter. The pumpkin will be lit and placed on Frog Pond along with other glowing pumpkins.
Fort Point Channel Carved Pumpkin Contest
The Boston Children’s Museum will be hosting the Fort Point Carved Pumpkin Contest on Friday, October 31st, from noon to 4:00. The event will include face painting, snacks and cider and family-friendly Halloween activities. Participants will also have the opportunity to vote for the Most Original, Scariest, Funniest and Best Overall carved pumpkin.
SoWa Market of the Living Dead
Taking place on Sunday, October 26th, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, the SoWa Market of the Living Dead event invites everyone to dress up in their best costumes before heading out the market. The best costume will win a $250 prize, while special holiday crafts and gifts will be available at the market. The event will also feature a food truck, live music and pumpkin carving. The market, which boasts more than 130 artists and designers, can be found at 460 Harrison Avenue.
A variety of Halloween shows will be taking place throughout the month of October. Some of these include the Tomes of Terror: Nevermore, which is a live radio play taking place October 24 25, 29, 30 and 31 and November 1. Another is Sweeney Todd, which is currently being performed by The Lyric Stage until October 11th.
Boston Halloween Parties
Several hotels and pubs offer special Halloween parties each year. Here are a few of what Boston has to offer this year:
- Liberty Hotel – hosts an annual Halloween party that includes a DJ, specialty drinks and live circus performers. Located at 215 Charles Street.
- The Greatest Bar – hosting Night of the Killer Costumes on November 1st. The event will include cash and other prizes for best costume. Located at 262 Friend Street.
- Boston Halloween PubCrawl – hosted by Stadium Sports Bar and Grill on Saturday, October 25th at 1:00. Located at 148 State Street.
- Bowlloween 2014 – takes place at Lucky Strikes Lane on Friday, October 31st. The 21-and-over event will take place from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am. Located
