Looking for a way to treat mom with something special this Mother’s Day? If so, Boston has plenty of options to choose from.
Duckling Day Parade
The Duckling Day Parade is an annual tradition that takes place on Boston Common at the base of the Shaw Memorial. Hosted by the Friends of the Public Garden, the parade celebrates the classic children’s book “Make Way for Ducklings” written by Robert McCloskey. Preregistration for the event starts at 10:30, with the parade starting at noon.
During the Duckling Day Parade, participants retrace the path that Mr. and Mrs. Mallard took with their young ducklings in McCloskey’s book. As part of the fun, children dress in yellow and some even dress up in duckling costumes. Prior to the parade, snacks, face painting, a puppet show and other forms of entertainment are provided for the families. Each child also receives a duckie toy. In addition to seeing their children looking cute in the parade, moms receive free mini-massages at the event.
