Boston’s residents have long-known that the city is an absolute Mecca when it comes to dining options. With literally hundreds of restaurants to choose from throughout the city, the most difficult part of dining out in Boston is choosing where to go.Thanks to the Dine Out Boston event, which takes place twice per year, you don’t have to choose just one place to eat!
Formally known as Restaurant Week Boston, Dine Out Boston takes place in March and then again in August. This year, the March event will be held from March 16 through the 21 and from the 23 through the 28. During this time, participants will have the opportunity to sample dishes from a variety of restaurants at specially reduced prices.
Restaurants participating in the Dine Out Boston event design special lunch and dinner menus during the two week period. They also agree to one of three different price options before determining what to place on the menu. For lunch, these prices options are $15, $20 or $25. For dinner, the price options are $28, $33 and $38. So, no matter where you go, you can rest assured you will not pay more than $25 for lunch or $38 for dinner. It should be noted, however, that beverages, taxes and gratuities are not included in this cost.
You can also feel good about making your purchase at local restaurants during the Dine Out Boston event because your payment will go toward helping a local charity. Each year, a local charity is selected to be a charitable partner of the event. This year, the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau is pairing up with American Express to donate $5,000 to a charity. The name of the charity has yet to be announced, but you can rest-assured that it will go back to the city and its people in some way. American Express is also offering a special discount to cardholders who purchase their meals with their cards. If you are an American Express cardholder, you will receive a $5 statement credit every time you spend $21 or more at the event and use your American Express card to pay for it.
To participate in the event, diners do not need a special pass, ticket or coupon. Rather, you simply visit the participating restaurants of your choice. As the event draws closer, the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau will make lists of participating restaurants available. There will certainly be plenty of nationally known chains and local restaurants included on the list. Whether you want Italian or French cuisine, Asian or Argentinean fare, something simple or something gourmet, you will be sure to find it at the Dine Out Boston event!
