AD20/21: 10th Anniversary! Art & Design of the 20thth & 21st Centuries and the Boston Print Fair
The AD20/21: 10th Anniversary! Art & Design of the 20th & 21st Centuries and the Boston Print Fair is coming back to Boston this year. Featuring 45 select exhibitors, the event will feature fine art, design and home décor, contemporary furnishings, decorative arts, jewelry and more.
The AD20/21: 10th Anniversary! Art & Design of the 20th & 21st Centuries and the Boston Print Fair will take place at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts in Boston’s South End. The event opens with a Gala Preview on Thursday, April 6 from 5:30 until 8:30 to support and celebrate Boston Design Week. Show hours are April 7 from 1:00 to 8:00 pm, April 8 from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm and April 9 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm. Weekend tickets are $15, with children under 12 admitted for free. The Cyclorama, Boston Center for the Arts is located at 529 Tremont Street in Boston.
Fourth Annual Boston Design Week
Having already kicked off on March 29th, the Fourth Annual Boston Design Week continues to offer opportunities to explore the many aspects of design. Taking place until April 9, the event falls into several categories. These include:
- Designing Boston (explores the future design of the city, architecture, historic preservation, public art, and more)
- Professional Focus (includes industry networking events, design contests, product launches and continuing education)
- Design and Social Impact (features sustainable design, design as social enterprise, design and recycling, and more)
Events will take place in a variety of locations throughout Boston and surrounding areas from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm each day through April 9th. A full calendar of events and locations can be viewed online.
7th Annual Themed Teen Poetry Contest
The 7th Annual Poetry Contest kicked off at the start of this month, with a call for entries lasting all the way until the end of the month. Open to students in Essex County in grades six through twelve, this year’s contest theme is: Perfection and associated metaphors. Those who are interested in entering the contest can contact the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library at 14 S. Hamilton or by entering online. Winners and honorable mentions will be announced at a Poetry Reception on May 11th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Entrants must be present at the reception to win. Winners will receive cash prizes and their poems will be published in local blogs and newspapers.
28th Annual MassArt Auction
The Massachusetts College of Art and Design has announced that its 28th Annual MassArt Auction will take place on April 8 from 6:30 to 10:00 pm in the Bakalar & Paine Galleries of MassArt. The auction will feature over 300 works of art ranging from emerging to established artists. Some of the themes in this year’s show will include identity, social justice and feminism. The cost of admission is $300, with all proceeds going toward MassArt’s student scholarships and academic programs. MassArt’s Bakalar & Paine Galleries is located at 621 Huntington Avenue in Boston.
