When it comes to community fun, Boston has many options available for its residents and visitors. One option that you might want to consider is enjoying some free entertainment in the form of movies and music. If this is something that interests you, here are some options you might want to consider.

Movies at the Hatch Shell

WBZ NewsRadio 1030 and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will once again be hosting a series of free family movies at the Hatch Shell on Boston’s Esplanade through July and August. Movies planned for this year’s series include:

  • July 15: Cinderella
  • July 22: Inside Out
  • July 29: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  • August 5: The Good Dinosaur
  • August 12: Jurassic World
  • August 19: Up
  • August 26: Ant-Man

Moviegoers are invited to bring a blanket and a picnic to enjoy while watching the show. Showings will begin at sundown, which is about 8:15 in July.

Magic 106.7 Family Film Festival

The free Magic 106.7 Family Film Festival will take place once again throughout this summer. Movies planned for this year include:

  • July 9: Wizard of Oz
  • July 16: Good Dinosaur
  • July 23: Tangled
  • July 30: Inside Out
  • August 6: Brave
  • August 13: Zootopia
  • August 20: A Bugs Life
  • August 27: Mary Poppins

The Magic 106.7 Family Film Festival takes place on the South Garden at the Prudential Center. In addition to movie showings, which start each night at sundown, the event also features children’s activities and giveaways. Festivities begin each day at 6:00 pm. Picnic blankets and beach chairs are welcome and anyone who spends $10 or more at Prudential Center receives discounted pricing in the Prudential Center Garage. Rain dates are held on the following Tuesday and closed captioning is provided for all movies.

Music at the Hatch Shell

In addition to enjoying free movies, you can also listen to some great concerts and other great events at the Hatch Shell. Here are a few of the upcoming shows that you might want to check out:
