Taste of the North End
On the North End, you might want to take a day to enjoy the Taste of the North End event. Founded by Donato and Nancy Frattaroli in 1993, Taste of the North End originated as a means to raise money for Casa Monte Cassino. Inspired by the story of a family that was utilizing the services of the Casa Monte Cassino while their four daughters received medical treatment at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, the Frattaroli’s wanted to find a way to give back. Today, the popular food festival still serves to raise funds for the charity while also be providing visitors with the opportunity to sample some of the best foods Boston has to offer.
While participating in the Taste of the North End, visitors are invited to sample from more than 35 North End eateries. Available foods include entrees, appetizers, desserts, cheeses and even beer and wine from local distributors. The event will also feature a high-end silent auction including items such as hotel and restaurant packages, memorabilia, Boston sporting tickets and other items.
This year’s Taste of North End event will take place on Friday, May 1st at DCR’s Steriti Memorial Rink. The Orange and Green Lines/North Station is the closest T Station. Proceeds from the event will be split among a variety of local non-profit organizations, including those that serve the elderly and those that support health and education programs serving the entire community. In recent years, the event has raised nearly $100,000 for these organizations.
