If you are single and looking for some romance, there are plenty of great places in Boston to find someone who just might share your interest. Here are a few suggestions to get you started.
Museum of Fine Arts: First Fridays
The Museum of Fine Arts hosts First Fridays every Friday, with the next one taking place shortly before Valentine’s Day on February 7th. Offering wine, tapas, art and music, the event gives you the opportunity to mingle with fellow art lovers as you enjoy an evening out. The event takes place in the Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Family Courtyard from 6:00 to 9:30 p. Museum members are admitted for free while adult tickets to the 21-and-over even are $25. Senior and Student tickets are $23. The ticket cost also covers the cost of admission to the museum. The Museum of Fine Arts is located at 465 Huntington Avenue.
Institute of Contemporary Art: First Fridays
If contemporary art is more your style, you might want to head to the Institute of Contemporary Art for a First Fridays celebration instead of the Museum of Fine Arts. This upbeat gathering offers art, live music, DJs, gallery talks and complimentary drinks. With a theme of “Cabin Fever,” the event invites you to relax and have a good time with fellow art lovers. Music takes place from 5:00 to 10:00 pm while a photo booth is available from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The event also features Pop-Up Talks every 30 minutes from 6:30 to 9:30 pm consisting of 15-minute gallery talks about single works within the museum’s exhibits. The 21-and-over event is free to members and $15 for nonmembers.
Glass Fridays at Diablo Glass School
To learn a new skill while getting to know new people, check out Glass Fridays Diablo Glass School. On the last Friday of every month, the school offers two workshops: beadmaking and glassblowing. The beadmaking class, which costs $75 and is limited to 10 participants, gives you three hours in the school’s flameworking studio where you get an introduction to working with hot glass making beads. Afterwards, you get to watch a glassblowing demonstration while having a glass of wine and socializing with other class participants. The workshop takes place from 6:30 to 9:00 pm while the demonstration takes place from 9:00 to 9:30 pm.
The glassblowing class is similar to the beadmaking class, but involves learning how to work with hot glass making paperweights. This class is also limited to 10 people and costs $95 per participant. While it will be too late to meet someone for Valentine’s Day, it is not too late to sign-up for the February 26th class. The Diablo Glass School is located at 123 Terrace Street.
Of course, these are only a few of the options available to you for meeting other singles in Boston. You might also want to get involved in community sporting leagues, the Boston Ski and Sports Club, or the Boston Center for Adult Education.
