On Monday, November 4th, the Harvard Book Store is proud to present Lisa Borders. At 7 p.m. she will be reading from her latest novel The Fifty-First State. A discussion of the book will follow the reading. The book follows Hallie Carson on her journey away from New York and her life as a photographer to her home in south Jersey, after the death of her father. She goes to look after her estranged younger brother, who is a senior in high school.
The siblings discover their family history, not knowing that they are also bringing disaster to their lives. Together, they come to understand how to cope, while staving off further losses. This is Lisa Borders’ second novel, which has received much acclaim and there is no cost to attend the event.
