Below is a list of programs happening in Medford this month for kids of all ages!
Basketball
Aug. 7-11, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 8-13. Learn the fundamentals of basketball with Coach John Skerry.
Community Rowing Session III
Aug. 7-18, 8 to 10 a.m. Novice and experienced. Novice and experienced students will develop rowing skills with the Medford High School Crew and Medford Rowing.
Swimming
Aug. 14-18, 2 to 5 p.m., ages 8-13. Participants will learn swimming safety, learn about being part of a swim team, and improve swimming strokes and techniques.
Parkour Summer Training Clinic
Aug. 14-18, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., ages 8-13. This training will teach beginners the basic movements and techniques of parkour. Participants will take part in technical instruction, group challenges, and movement based games.
Adventures in Space
Aug. 14-18, 9 a.m. to noon, grades 1-5. Participants will get a glimpse of what it’s like to live and work in space and a space station, learn about the principals of flight and design, wear an astronaut suit, and build and launch their own rocket.
Intro to ‘STEM’ with Lego Materials
Aug. 21-25, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 5-6. Build engineer-designed projects such as boats, snowmobiles, catapults, and merry-go-rounds, then use special pieces to create your own unique design.
‘STEM’ Challenge with Lego Materials
Aug. 21-25, 1 to 4 p.m., ages 7-12. Apply real-world concepts of physics, engineering, and architecture through projects such as catapults, pneumatic cranes, arch bridges, and battletracks.
Free Parks Program
Week 5: Aug. 7-11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., ages 5-16. Harris, Barry, and Morrison Park. Children are invited to get out and move, play, and create at various parks throughout the summer. Free lunch will be provided.
Cool off this summer at Tufts Pool and Wright’s Pond. Passes on sale online and in the Treasurer’s Office at Medford City Hall.
