shutterstock_244627492The New England Boat Show will be returning this year, with the event taking place from February 14 through the 22nd.  As the biggest boating event in the Northeast, the boat show attracts over 40,000 visitors each year.

Obviously, the biggest attractions found at the New England Boat Show are the boats, which measure up to 50 feet in length. A variety of different boats will be on display at the show, including those designed for cruising, watersports, fishing and wakeboarding. Sailboats ranging from skiffs to Coastal Cruisers will also be on display.

In addition to the boat displays, the show will also have numerous exhibits and vendors available with marine accessories on display and available for purchase. Available items will include navigational equipment, galleyware, hardware and more. In all, the show will have more than 250 exhibits for visitors to explore. Various giveaways and contests will give you the opportunity to win some of these items for free. Contests and giveaways currently scheduled include the “Pets on Board” contest, for which you can win a life jacket for your furry friend, as well as a sweepstakes for a Laser Pico boat (valued at $3,510) and a Zodiac Cadet 260 with Yamaha 2.5 hp 4-stroke outboard motor (with a total value of $2,835).

Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center, located at Booth 1846, will also provide visitors with the unique opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops and DIY seminars. These workshops will cover topics such as boat and motor maintenance, upgrades and repairs. A variety of free seminars and workshops will be offered each day, with example topics including: Scratches, Dings and Oxidation; Eradicating mold, mildew, dirt and crud; A fast and efficient boat: How your prop affects your boat’s performance; and Oh No, There’s ethanol in my fuel.

Sponsored by Progressive Insurance, the New England Boat Show will be held at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. Located along the South Boston Waterfront on Summer Street, the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center is the largest exhibition center in the Northeastern United States. Boating 516,000 square feet of exhibition space and a main floor with three bays, the exhibition center is quite the site to behold. The New England Boat Show will utilize 450,000 square feet of this space in 2014, which is about 100,000 square feet more than the 2014 show. This expansion will allow the show to look very similar to last year while providing more exhibits and displays.

Show hours are 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on February 14 and 21, 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on February 15, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on February 16, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm February 17-20, and 11:00 am to 5:30 pm February 22. Tickets to the event are $15 per adult, with children below the age of 16 admitted for free. Tickets can be purchased online or at the event. Tickets purchased online also include a free one-year subscription to Boating, Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, Yachting or Men’s Journal.
