Oktoberfest & Honk Festival: Harvard Square (Oct 11-14)

oktoberfest-1024x1024The 35th Annual Oktoberfest will be held on Sunday, October 13th, 2013, from 12 – 6:00 throughout five blocks in the heart of Harvard Square (rain date Monday, October 14th). The event is attended annually by well over 200,000 people. Oktoberfest also features a parade from the HONK! Festival in Somerville to the Oktoberfest bringing even bigger crowds to Harvard Square for the day.

The Annual Oktoberfest and Honk Festival will feature:

  • six stages of live entertainment
  • over 40 restaurant vendors
  • outdoor beer gardens
  • street vendors
  • sidewalk sales
  • and HONK bands from around the country!

A grassroots, non-profit event, the HONK! Festival is a revolutionary street spectacle of activist street bands that will converge for the seventh time in Davis Square. None of the bands will be earning any money for the festival. The bands are inspired to travel great distances to joyously celebrate our hard work to reclaim public space—the world over—for all people.

More About the HONK! Festival

The HONK! Festival is made possible by the financial and in-kind support of a thousand local residents and businesses. For the duration of the Festival, more than 350 musicians will be housed by generous neighbors and friends and many local restaurants will generously provide food for the performers and volunteers. Scores of community members have donated hours of labor to make HONK! possible.

The bands long to connect in honor of our struggles for justice. We hope you will come, to connect and celebrate with us, and further the cause of freedom, justice and collective emancipation.
