It’s no wonder South Boston has such a unique identity, considering it used to be its own city.  The town of Dorchester and the Dorchester Neck peninsula were annexed to Boston in 1804.  South Boston was one of the first neighborhoods to be planned and designed with Broadway and L Streets as the main axis.  This historical site is the perfect location for a festival celebrating this one-of-a-kind neighborhood.
