If you have long been interested in learning more about cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, or even if you are a pro at the winter sports, you might want to head out to the Weston Ski Track for their annual Winter Trails Day. Taking place each January, the national event is meant to introduce people to the great fun of being outside during the winter.
Snowshoeing on Winter Trails Day
Snowshoeing events on Winter Trails Day will be free and will not require pre-registration. In addition to giving out free snowshoeing trail passes, the Weston Ski Track will also provide free snowshoe demos as well as free guided tours provided by EMS. For those without their own snowshoes, Tubbs and MSR will be providing a limited number of demo snowshoes for periods of 15 to 20 minutes. Those who wish to use snowshoes for a longer period of time can rent them for one day at the regular rate of $15 for adults, $10 for those between the ages of 13 and 16, $7 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and $13 for those who qualify for the senior or military rate. Three-day rentals are also available for $33 for adults, $26 for those between the ages of 13 and 16, $18 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and $28 for seniors and members of the military. Five-day rentals are also available.
Skiing on Winter Trails Day
Free ski lessons will also be available at the Weston Ski Track on Winter Trails Day. To qualify for the free lessons, you might pre-register for the event and purchase a trail pass. The following lessons will be available during the special event:
- Adult Beginner lesson
- Kids (ages 6-10) Beginner Lesson
- Kinder (ages 4-5) Lesson (there is an $18 fee for this lesson)
- Skate-Skiing Lesson
Touring and skate-ski rentals are available for use on-site. Equipment can be rented for one, three or five days. One day touring ski rental is $18 for adults, $11 for those between the ages of 13 and 16, $8 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and $15 for seniors and members of the military. One day skate-ski rental is available at a cost of $20 for adults, $15 for those between the ages of 13 and 16, $11 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and $16 for seniors and military members.
Having Fun During Winter Trails Day
In addition to providing guests with the opportunity to learn more about snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, the Winter Trails Day at Weston Ski Track will offer plenty of additional fun. Mix104.1 will be at the event providing music and handing out hot chocolate to help keep participants warm.
The Winter Trails Day at Weston Ski Track will take place on January 9th from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Weston Ski Track is located at 190 Park Road in Weston, Massachusetts. The facilities are just 30 minutes west of Boston and can be reached by the Green Line, though it does require walking a total of about 1.25 miles.
